What does a project planner do?

The main role of a project planner is to ensure that a project is completed on time and on spec. They are often found within construction and engineering, wherein they liase between departments and stakeholders to make sure that milestones are hit and delays, if unavoidable, are kept to a minimum. Project planners have their heads in all aspects and must constantly keep their own on every aspect, including budgets, morale, production progress, etc.

The average salary of a project planner in the UK is close to £25,000, with senior planners receiving more. Salaries can vary between projects, depending on complexity and location. Those who excel with impressive organisational and interpersonal skills will often do well as planners and so are prized by potential employers and recruiters. In addition, while no formal degree is required for a career in planning, any bachelor's qualification with experience in organisation will put a candidate on good stead.
